Farol Design Hotel, Portugal
This exclusive luxury hotel in Portugal is
planted on the edge of the rocks that rise out of the ocean, the Farol
Design Hotel is set in a mansion dating back to 1890, formerly
owned by the count of Cabral. In 2002 a new extension was built, creating
a superb innovative interface between the 19th century original building
and the daring new contemporary structure that hangs over the rocks
to the sound of lapping waves.
Unique in concept, the Designer
rooms originated from an invitation to select
top Portuguese fashion Designers to "dress
a room". This year the hotel is undergoing
further renovations and an extensive interior
design make over to ensure its loyal guests
a new experience to enjoy every time they return,
that of luxury redefined.
The hotel is situated in the Estoril Coast, a region famous
for its privileged climate and fine sandy beaches, dotted along the shoreline,
besides eight magnificent golf courses and an international
authodrome, all located at a convenient distance.
Bedrooms of Dreams
33 guestrooms await you so you can give yourself up to absolute pleasure. There
are the Designer Rooms, each uniquely "dressed for bliss" by the following
acclaimed Portuguese fashion designers: Ana Salazar, António Augustus,
Arkadius, Fátima Lopes, João Rolo, José António Tenente,
Manuel Alves & José Manuel Gonçalves, Miguel Vieira.
The remaining rooms comprise 12 with sea view, 10 with land view and 2 suites.
All rooms have hydro-massage bathtub, air conditioning, twin or king size beds,
hair dryer, bathrobe and slippers, mini bar, cable TV, ISDN phone, level 5 modem
lines, safety box, smoke detector, voltage - 220 V. Some rooms have balcony/terraces.
Nespresso machines in designer rooms.
Stones and Dishes
Open for lunch and dinner. The Mix Restaurant boasts an ambience
second to none. It comprises three distinct dining areas which flow into each
other and extend out to the sea. The cuisine is Mediterranean fusion and Sushi,
run by our German Chef Daniel Schlaipfer. The two interior rooms, one
in the original house called The Private Mix and the other in
the new contemporary building, are linked by an arch and are ideal settings for
more intimate cozy dining.
