Palazzo Belmonte, Amalfi Coast
Palazzo Belmonte is a
unique and historic Italian seaside retreat,
located less than 120 Kms (75 Miles) from Naples
International Airport, south of
the magical Amalfi Coast.
As you drive through the discrete gates, the oleander drive welcomes you to the
archway of the palazzo. A beautiful flower-filled courtyard encourages you to
leave the cares of the world behind and to enjoy the calm of your stay. Palazzo
Belmonte has been in the Princes’ family for over 250 years, and offers
guests the same pleasures enjoyed by visiting kings and queens in the past. The
Palazzo is a tranquil place to relax and rest, set in walled gardens of majestic
palms and sprays of flowers. Part of the beach is set aside for Palazzo guests,
and there is an enormous freshwater pool within the Palazzo’s grounds.
Just at the end of the drive is a charming and un-spoilt fishing village, with
typical local shops and several markets.
Classic Rooms & Suites
Our Classic Rooms and Suites in the older part of the Palazzo
are large with vaulted ceilings. These are furnished in the style of a classical
sea side villa, light and airy spaces with carefully placed antiques. Many of
the bathrooms are in beautiful white marble. Two modern villas in the park have
double or twin rooms which are designed either to be totally separate, or to
be connected to form accommodation for three or four people. Those rooms located
on the top floors of the villas are recommended for those seeking a romantic
and very private stay. Many of the Palazzo’s 50 rooms have balconies or
terraces which overlook the sea, the gardens or the Prince’s courtyard.
The Palazzo has a beautiful and romantic open-air restaurant,
the Belvedere, where candle-lit tables overlook the twinkling lights of Amalfi and
the Island of Capri, and guests hear the waves lapping against
the shore as they dine. The Prince’s chef de cuisine offers the finest
dishes of the Mediterranean, using the best of ingredients and prepared with
the passion of the Italian south. To complement the fresh flavors of seafood,
the wonderful salads and many delicious regional specialties, the Palazzo cellar
holds many fine Italian wines.
Breakfast in the morning warmth is usually enjoyed near the pool, while light
lunches are served by the bar overlooking the sea or, if preferred, at the poolside.
For those seeking adventure, some of the top attractions of Southern Italy are
within an easy journey of the Palazzo. The legendary Amalfi Coast is rich in
possibilities for compelling day-trips: towns such as Vietri sul Mare, famous
for its ceramics, Ravello with its beautiful Rufolo and Cimbrone villas, or the
picturesque Positano, lying on the sharp hillside with its toes in the sea. Paestum
provides Palazzo guests with a chance to experience Magna Graecia,
the C7th BC colonies of ancient Athens, and to the south is the grandeur of Certosa
di Padula, an immaculately preserved Carthusian Monastery with
the largest cloister in the world. For many of these trips a car or driver can
be hired, while the Island of Capri (as well as Positano and
Amalfi) may also be reached by hydrofoil, private boat or helicopter.
For those keen to enjoy the outdoors close to the Palazzo, fishing, scuba diving,
water sports and boat trips can easily be arranged. Many guests enjoy hiking
or easier walking on the Prince’s pine-forested estates, among the olive
trees in the afternoons or in time to catch a fiery sunset over the sea.
Private Weddings and Events
For Private Weddings and Events, the Palazzo itself (taken exclusively
or in part) or other principal properties of the Belmonte estate offer guests
breath-taking venues. Secret jewel in the crown of the southern Italian Coast,
the Castello at Punta Licosa offers a most exclusive
venue for either a very private family villa holiday, or as the backdrop
to a prestigious and spectacular function. With a quiet harbour for smaller boats,
and sheltered anchorage for a mega-yacht, the Castello offers private gardens,
a family chapel and both the grandeur and charm of a secluded and secure VIP
villa. For those planning a wedding, there are many lovely options to set the
scene: the private chapel of the Prince at the Palazzo or the larger private
church at the Castello, a sandy beach or a rich lawn by the Castle ruins, or
the lighthouse of the Prince’s private island.
The Palazzo Wedding and Event Planner will be pleased to help
you with some guidance to make your event at Palazzo Belmonte or the Castello
outstanding. |
